Why Church Planting

Because Everyone Needs Hope.

We are often asked, "Why Church Planting?" Our answer is simple.

Because there are 3.27 billion people on the planet who will never hear the Good News in their lifetime unless a local church is planted within walking distance of everyone everywhere.

You see, the church—the spiritual community of Christ-followers in a particular place—is the most compelling expression of Jesus a village will ever witness.

Jesus is the Good News for everyone everywhere.

Billions Could Be Lost

Forty-two percent of the world will never even hear of Jesus if a church is not planted within walking distance of every person on earth. That means,

  • Billions will never hear the gospel,
  • Billions will be eternally lost, and
  • Billions will never experience the rising tide of kingdom living that lifts communities out of spiritual, social, developmental, and economic poverty.

Why do we plant churches in unreached villages? Because where a person is born shouldn’t limit their access to Jesus and the blessings of His Kingdom.

The Church is the Only Hope of the World

Petros Network is passionately committed to planting churches among those who have no access to a gospel witness. We believe so strongly in the need for church planting that we unapologetically say, “the church is the only hope of the world.

There is So Much to Gain

When those who respond to the gospel are formed into a church, everything changes. Not only are new believers spiritually and eternally transformed into Kingdom-minded people, but we have witnessed first-hand how their lives change holistically:

  • They pursue restored relationships
  • They are motivated to work hard to improve themselves and raise their standard of living
  • They express concern for the environment,
  • They strive for fairer governance and basic human rights, including the rights of women and children
  • They even begin to care for their bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit

The Entire Village Experiences Redemptive Lift

Moreover, as believers begin to live out these kingdom values, something amazing begins to happen in the village. We call it Redemptive Lift!

Life for all the villagers begins to lift with the rising tide of godly living among the believers. Peace settles over the village, hostility between neighbors ceases, people carry their weight, alcoholism diminishes, and a community vision for every good and pleasant thing begins to take shape. As people begin to work for the common good, communities are changed and hope is restored.
